When we think of Spring, we think of warm weather, beautiful flowers blooming, and getting outside to enjoy it all. Spring is also the time when birds are in their breeding plumage and often times can be spectacular in color. It is usually the male of the species who is sporting the sharp looks, and in the two images below of the Lazuli Bunting and the American Goldfinch, this is the case. I photographed these handsome young fellows out patrolling their turf, and both were busy running off an an intrusive Willow Flycatcher which I unfortunately did not get a picture of. All in all, it was a great way to start the day, and another fine morning photographing wildlife in the Pacific Northwest!
