Click of the Week: “Chick-a-dee-dee-dee-dee”

black-capped chickadeeSometimes you just have to get out in the rain and shoot what you can as a photographer. For example, I went out with the intention of photographing Ospreys, and ended up with cooperative Chickadees! Go figure! All you can do is roll with what you are given sometimes and take full advantage of the situation. I love these little guys (and girls) and all the great chirps and calls they make. The Chickadee has such a varied vocabulary when it comes to bird songs, it is quite entertaining to listen to as well as learn from.

The above images were photographed with a Canon 1D Mark IV and Canon 500mm f/4 L IS and processed in Photoshop CS 6. As there was relatively low light, I was shooting at f/4, ISO 400-800 with shutter speeds ranging from 1/500 to 1/1000 sec.
