Spring Antics

_92C2466Springtime is ALWAYS entertaining, as the critters often times behave in overly enthusiastic ways. Take for instance my resident Spotted Towhee; I have observed him on numerous occasions frantically hopping from the rear-view mirror on my Ranger, to the vehicles door so he could catch a glimpse of his reflection in the mirror. At first I didn’t know what he was doing. Then it dawned on me that he is seeing “another” Spotted Towhee that could either be competition, or a potential mate.

Around the fourth or fifth time I observed this, I saw that his female waswatching him from the fence. I then realized he must be defending his turf from the “other male” he sees in the mirror. Too funny! 🙂

Anyways, I had to share this. I hope you enjoy as much as I have been!!
